DAY TOUR TO KNOSSOS
From Hania we take the 2.5 hour drive to Knossos, capital of the legendary king Minos and the principal centre of the Minoan, the earliest of the Aegean civilizations. The site of Knossos stands on a knoll between the confluence of two streams and is located about 8 km inland from Crete's northern coast. Excavations were begun at Knossos under Sir Arthur Evans in 1900 and revealed a palace and surrounding buildings that were the centre of a sophisticated Bronze Age culture that dominated the Aegean between about 1600 and 1400 BC.
After our guided tour (1.5 to 2 hours) we will drive into Heraklion for lunch and free time to wander the foreshore of Crete's capital.

DAY TOUR TO LOUTRO
Loutro is a tiny remote seaside village in the south of Crete, 96 kms from Hania. It is quintessentially Greek with the small village sparkling white next to a turquoise green and blue bay, and harsh rocky mountains rising up behind it. It offers that indescribable Mediterranean feeling of freedom, white light and space. The tiny harbour makes it a safe port even in bad weather conditions and its inaccessibility means there are no large hotels, no crowds and no cars!
You will have plenty of time for a swim, a wander along the waterfront or just relaxing in a local café.
